1.      Optimize Your Business Name. Use your keywords in your business name. Don’t be afraid to add your city to your business name, for example “Tony’s Pizza Brooklyn, instead of just “Tony’s Pizza.”

2.      Add Keywords to Your Business Description. If people are searching for “pizza Brooklyn” that keyword phrase should be in the business description.

3.      Make Them Look. Focus on writing compelling copy to attract your target audience in from the local search engines and directories.

4.      Use a Professional Picture. Don’t post poor quality photos of your business. A picture is worth a thousand words.

1.      Understand Video Sharing Site’s Algorithm (how they rank videos). They use the following factors: Title, Description, Tags, Rating, and Number of Views.

2.      Keywords in Title. Make sure to put your target keyword as the title of your video

3.      Make Them Look. Write effective headline as your title. Just because you post a video doesn’t mean anyone will view it. Your videos will have competition and a unique title (headline) will set your video apart from the crowd.

4.      Be Descriptive. Add a description that has as many details and keywords as possible. Actually describe the video, the better the description the easier you will make it for users searching for you video.

5.      Keyword Stuffing. After writing your video’s description, press return about eight times and add all relevant keywords (tags). This will drastically help people find your video.

37.  Be Realistic. Don’t expect to upload a video and get a million views over night, it will take time.

38.  Stay Consistent. To have success on video sharing sites takes consistent effort. Consistent effort will always yields consistent results.

39.  Be Patient. The reason 99% of people will never make a cent online is because they are not patient. Just like in real life, it takes time for people to get to know, like and trust you. They don’t have to know, like and trust you a lot, just a little.

40.  Get started. Don’t worry if you don’t have tons of brilliant videos. There is no way to know if your videos will be the next big hit or next big flop. But if you don’t start, you’ll never know. Remember “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

Immediately I thought “Of course there is a wrong way to market.” I can instantly think of ten stupid ways to market. He went on to say, “There are countless strategies, tips, tricks, and techniques when it comes to marketing and most people get too caught up in making sure everything is perfect, but the real “secret” is to get out there and take action.”

When I worked for a Commercial Lending Firm, I spent the first two weeks making sure I had all the scripts, objections and commonly asked questions down to a T before I even made one call. The truth was, I was scared to death of calling anyone and I used “being prepared” as an excuse. During those two weeks my associate made five sales and earned $3,000 and he barely knew anything about the company. However he took action and I didn’t.

If you want to be included in the rankings on a search engine, your domain name has to be in the search engine database. Search engines read through all the information on the web and create an index of it. The index allows a search engine to take a search from a user and give them pages to match it. For example, if I type in “pizza delivery,” a search engine would search their pages, and show the results; Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa John’s, etc.So how do you get your site into the index?  

In order to give relevant results, the search engines have to continually crawl the web. They have a list of all the websites and pages that they have “indexed.” So how do you get your site into the index?  

Here are the top 10 ways to get your site indexed and ranked high on the search engine results page. (Since Google has a 75% market share in North America and in Europe and controls more traffic than Yahoo and MSN combined, we will be focusing on Google)

1.      Write quality useful content, which will get your site indexed naturally.

2.      Submit your site to Google, http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl. This method could take a couple months.

3.      Get incoming links from sites that have already been indexed. Comment in forums and put a link to your site in the signature. Or you can go to a relevant blog and post a “real” comment. Don’t post spam.

4.      Ask another relevant site to link to you. Tell them you will add their site to your site.

5.      Add your link to your other sites. Do you have a blog? If not, go to blogspot.com or wordpress.com and create a free blog. Write a couple posts and add links to your site.

6.      Create a free Google Analytics code and install the analytics code into your site.

7.      Create and submit a sitemap to Google Webmaster Central.

8.      Submit your blog RSS feed to Technorati and Feedburner

9.      Don’t use only flash in your site. Google spiders can’t read flash.

10.  Be patient. If you just focus on building your site, you will eventually get indexed.

To get indexed or part of the search engines database isn’t very difficult. The real challenge is to rank high on the search engines result page. Follow the above 10 tips and you will be light years ahead of your competition

Jack Nielsen’s latest study show’s 90% of the online community users are “lurkers.” (read or observe without contributing) Only 9% contribute “a little” and 1% actively contribute. So only 1% of your visitors will actively contribute, that’s 1 out of 100.

As a reader, you probably like to read the comments left on sites you visit. When you see several comments on a post, you know that people are being affected by the material. Most people comment because they gained information from the post. As humans we often associate quantity with good. I you are reading an article about Craigslist Marketing and there are 350 comments, you will instinctively feel the article must be good.

So how do you get people to comment? Ask for a comment. Most people don’t do this. If you invite comments you will get them. Write things like “What is your opinion,” or “Show me you are alive.”

If you can offer value, you could have 5,000 customers building your brand, as well as doing the selling for you. On average, 70% of what we talk about daily, centers around products, services, and news. We talk about great products, crappy products, wonderful service and annoying service.

The best part of this technology is that it is extremely simple and doesn’t cost much money to implement. Most website templates already have comment boxes installed. You can easily add comment boxes to your site with simple plug-ins. You can control the comments and only let the positive ones be posted. Imagine getting free feedback from the marketplace on your products/services. If 100 are complaining about how confusing your instruction manual is, that’s a clear sign you need to make changes.

It should be clear by now commenting is the wave of the future and can dramatically increase sales.
