How to Become an Industry Expert Overnight?

Since our goal is to drive massive amounts of traffic to our website, to accomplish this, we must be viewed as an expert or leader in our field. If you’re thinking, “But I’m not an expert, I just started my site, I have no customers, no traffic, and no income,” then continue reading How to Become an Industry Expert Overnight?
If you aren’t an expert, don’t worry. All an “expert” means in the context of selling a product or service is that you know more about a topic than the customer. You don’t have to be the best in the world, you just need to better than your prospective customers.
The truth is you need to stand out from the hoards of competition.  Are you like most of the other Internet marketers who are afraid to be an expert? Are you hiding behind your site? Why? If you are truly offering value to the customer, why are you afraid to be scene?
Our society puts “experts” on a pedestal and what they say is often deemed as fact. It’s clear experts are rewarded in numerous ways. We all look for people who are savvier than we are. It’s natural for us to want to believe there is someone out there who’s smarter, wiser, and stronger. Human beings want to believe almost as much as they want to belong.

You can become an expert in a couple weeks if you understand basic credibility indicators and what people are conditioned to equate with proof of superior knowledge. What are credibility indicators? Group affiliations, client lists, writing credentials, media mentions, M.D., etc

The “expert” with the most credibility indicators is the one who will sell the most products, not the one with the most knowledge of the topic.  You may be the most knowledgeable person in the world about medicine, but if you don’t have M.D. at the end of your name, few people will pay you for open heart surgery.

The next question is, how do we get the most credibility indicators in the shortest amount of time? Here are 10 top secret tips anyone can use to position themselves as an expert in any industry.

1. Join two or three related trade organizations with official sounding names. This can be done in minutes. For example: eMarketing Association, Association of Professional Consultants, Investment Management Association, or the American Academy of Financial Management would all be perfect for an Internet marketer.

2. Read a couple top selling books in your field and summarize each book on one page, then take the top points of each page and create an article or speech.

3. Give a free seminar at a local university, you can use Craigslist to advertise and invite your friends and family. Then do the same at a couple well known companies, tell the company you have given seminars at University or College X and are a member of the trade organizations from tip one, if they object, say “you are offering it to them for free to get additional speaking experience and won’t be selling anything. You are willing to speak to 50 people or only 1.”

4. Write one or two articles for trade magazines related to your topic, explaining what you have done in tips 1-3 for credibility.

5. Write articles about topics you have an authoritative opinion on and submit them to article directories. Once you do this, people will see you as an authority in your field and will seek you out. Again, it builds credibility.

6. Post in forums and related sites. I frequent various forums and offer my opinion to help educate others on how to build a successful online business.
