How to Use Controversy Marketing to Become Loved, Feared and Respected?

Howard Stern

Have you noticed how much competition there is today? You should know by now in order to make a nice income online, it’s not enough to just to have a website, you must make them stop and look. Controversy Marketing is an extremely powerful, cost effective marketing method to explode your business.

Let me ask you a question and I want you to really consider it. Does your marketing make you unique, interesting, or addictive?  The answer is probably no. So many websites just don’t get it.  They have no name, no brand, no picture, no personality, and no sticking power.

Very few people know this secret. Are you ready? It really doesn’t matter what you are selling. You have to stand out and be memorable. Don’t be afraid to make waves. Have an opinion. Get as far away from the middle ground as you can. You can sell the same thing everyone else does, in the same way, with the same approach, without an opinion, never offend anyone, take no chances, go only with what is safe, and take the advice of others.

Or you can create your own niche, find your own unique angle, and actually have fun with your marketing. What if you had an opinion, challenged others, said things that showed your strong opinions, made people think, made people respond, made them laugh, made them tell their friends? Life is much too short to be boring.

When you hear the name Howard Stern, what comes to mind? I’ll bet you don’t just think of a male disk jockey from New York who has a morning show. You probably think of a loud, obnoxious entertainer who is always doing something shocking. The truth is, Howard Stern is memorable. Why? He’s a little nuts, different, and isn’t afraid to push the envelope. Remember in everything you do, your goal is to be memorable. skulls, skeleton image, skeleton pic

My website is called Billionaire By Thirty. Almost every day I get an email from someone who has a problem with my lofty dreams. They say a billion dollars before thirty is impossible, improbable, and just plain arrogant. But they are taking the time to write me an email and be presented with my marketing message and at the end of the day that is what matters.

I had never heard of “Controversy Marketing” before, but it makes a lot of sense and if you do it right, a lot of dollars and cents, ha ha. I have found myself worrying that my marketing might offend people at times, but your article has given me a new perspective. Offensive is not always a bad thing. After all, Howard Stern did sign a 500 million dollar contract with Sirius Sattelite Radio, not bad eh?
